Workout Music Redux

These past few years my music taste has been through a couple of different phases thanks to new friends. Indie pop/dance, then EDM, and now currently mostly hip hop. I've been through these phases in the past before (minus the indie dance music, that's relatively new all around) so maybe it'll be a cyclical theme in my life - although I don't see myself getting back into j-pop...

Since I've been working out again lately, music selection has had a bigger importance since it keeps me hyped while working out. Specifically for lifting, I am reminded of when I compiled a list of my favorite workout tunes back in 2007.

I should create some new genre-specific workout playlists since most of those songs were metal/rock. This past year I've been listening to:

Paying the toll

3 months into 2013 and my weight is under control with the keto diet. Now I'm starting to pay attention to the inflammation factor of foods and working on increasing omega-3 and lowering omega-6 intake. Chia seed isn't the superfood I once it was because of the lack of EPA/DHA, but I'll keep eating them; per my doc's recommendation I am supplementing with Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 3 capsules (that's the best brand she said).

Starting to get back into strength training- installed a pull up bar by the bathroom and now I 'pay the toll' every time I use the bathroom. My plan is to do 3 each time in the month of March, then 4 in April, 5 in May, etc.

Personal best

Had a great jog yesterday- worth the blisters. I'm finally learning to enjoy jogging. The cooler weather yesterday probably helped my performance. Growing up with asthma hampered my running activities during my school years, but this summer I decided to work at it slowly and try to 'learn to run'. My overall pace is still slow but it's the fastest and longest jog I've had in my life.
