Set for awhile

It's been 5 years since I've had a new PC. Old PC couldn't even play 1080p vids, and chugged when unraring them.

After much research here's what I ended up with:

CPU/MOBO/COOLER:
Intel i7-930
ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58
Cooler Master Hyper 212+
PSU:
Antec CP-850 850W
GPU:
MSI GTX 460 1gb
STORAGE:
60GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200rpm
2TB 5400rpm WD Green & LG DVDRW combo deal
500gb Samsung 7200RPM (spare drive from previous NAS upgrade)
RAM:
Corsair DDR3 6GB 1600MHz XMS
CASE:
Antec P183
Scythe S-FLEX 120mm Fan 1200rpm

The SSD was the big splurge item and the extra 2TB HDD was an impulse purchase because of the newegg combo deal offered. Had a bunch of deal alerts set up on slickdeals. Turned them off quick after I bought everything. It's going to suck to see everything go cheap on black friday.

Here is everything put together; routing the wires was a pain.

Moved the old shuttle to TV area; suspended my DirecTV service to see how this works out.

Cleaned up the desk area and used the old monitor in portrait mode. Going to be set for awhile; enough storage, enough everything to last another 5+ years. Cleartype isn't perfect on the portrait mode LCD; even after the Win7 cleartype tuner.

No more major purchases for a long time.

Can’t copy large videos from iPhone 4?

Got a snazzy new iPhone 4 and you can't get large video files off it? I was having this same issue with a 10 minute 720p video I kept trying to transfer using Windows explorer. Windows would create a 0 byte file with the same file name. Tried this on two different PCs. Maybe it could be a WinXP issue?

Thanks to this blog post, CopyTrans is the answer.

Here's the 758mb file video:

Upgraded

Decided to take the plunge and upgrade this wordpress. I've been fine until 2.9 when wordpress started requiring MySQL 5.0. Unfortunately my 1and1 database was on 4.0. I found this helpful guide on how to migrate my DB. Better than the official 1and1 guide because the official guide left out the part about deleting 3 crucial lines. Don't forget to add this to your htaccess to enable auto-upgrading.

Now to test out some features...
