I’m a published games journalist – lawl
It’s in English. Friends are responsible for that section in the paper so I help out with reviews when they have a huge backlog.

BTW Dropbox is incredibly useful for instant personal hosting of any file type. There’s even an iPhone app for it too.

I’d get DJ Hero if this song were in it.

Edit: looks like youtube pulled it. Check out the artist’s page for more remixes such as Jay Z vs Battletoads

Forza 3 Vinyl

Category: Kevin's postsKevin @ 12:55 am

Forza 3 is nothing short of AWESOME. Therefore, it deserves the awesome.gif

Never having created any art in any video game before, this was definitely an eye opening (and FRUSTRATING) experience. I went in expecting layer management and editing similar to photoshop, where I can easily overwrite a part of a layer or make a portion of a layer transparent, but I couldn’t figure out how. After going back and watching Jube’s video tutorial I realize now how important it is to plan out your method and techniques. A lack of planning definitely caused me great frustration and I ended up having to use a ton of stamping to get the details to my satisfaction.

I appreciate the quality of work/time of M0dus and Jube3 10000000x more now. Trying to create this smiley as my first vinyl was quite the challenge.

Fond memory

Category: Kevin's postsKevin @ 10:21 am

I remember my mom used to take me here as a kid. I don’t really remember playing with other kids so I’m pretty sure I used to whine and beg my mom to take me to the Golden Gate Children’s Park to play. My favorite thing was the cement slide where you had to grab a piece of cardboard to sit on. Scraped knuckles was not uncommon. I think my sister used to take me here as a kid too. I want to jot down any early childhood memories while I can still remember.

Snes favorites

Category: Kevin's postsKevin @ 11:30 am

I wrote about my Game Doctor III in a previous post; so I figure before I forget, I should list some of my favorite (and more obscure) games that I copied and played. I’ll skip the obvious ones. Some of my favorites were random purchases from HKG stalls. I think that’s how I was able to play so many Japanese games.

To this day, I don’t remember ever finishing a game. That’s what having an abundance does to you. Shortens your attention span and you get bored faster because you can easily check out a difference game. Before I had the Game Doctor III for SNES I had to buy carts, and when I did; it was a rare treat and I would play that game for months on end.

I remember my mom buying me Hit The Ice from Electronics Boutique at Stonestown and I played the crap out of that game even though it was pretty shitty. It was impossible to score so I just focused on the fighting. Don’t get me started on how many hours I put into SFII and SFII Turbo (Famicom game from Hong Kong w/ converter!)

Cool Spot
Star Wars Empire Strikes Back
Looney Tunes B-Ball

Blackthorne – Creepy atmosphere. I mostly remember getting frustrated at the difficulty though.
Ranma 1/2 CRH – not to be confused with the crappy one released in the US

International Superstar Soccer Deluxe – This was definitely the best soccer game at the time. I had to play and figure out all the Japanese as a kid. I even learned to recognize the “Baggio” name; Italy was my favorite because of the in-game pony tail.
Axelay - amazing shooter

Wild Guns – shit, all the Natsume games at the time were awesome (Pocky and Rocky!)

Fanatec GET HYPE

Category: Kevin's postsKevin @ 9:30 am

Per Fanatec’s blog; the Fanatec wheel should be shipping end of November with new features. Mario and I pre-ordered weeks ago and the wait is killing us (not as bad as those who ordered before June!). The new features added since the time we ordered sound awesome- especially the ABS Vibration in the wheel.
