Things I wiki’d today
At the request of Eric, my vicarious voyeur fan boy, I am going to start a list of things I wiki on a semi-daily-whenever-I-feel-like-it basis. Since I don't have a search history function in my wikipedia firefox quick search bar, I will have to try to remember what I wiki'd.
Last night I wiki'd:
- Polypropylene breast implants - (3:26:42 PM) The Ratgoo: good gravy those are huge
Today:
- Charles Joseph Whitman - Was interested in finding out more on the previous mass campus killing
Fruit-ring concept

Move over fruit-bowl, here comes the fruit ring. Simple, yet clever and very attractive. Maybe it could be made in a wire frame style so people can see the fruit as well.
The Ring is an entry in the Designboom "Ceramics for Breakfast" contest. Germany's Joung Myung Lee designed this porcelain ring that mounts on your wall and holds and dispenses round fruits.

Tiling a fiberglass shower pan

Here's something I didn't know could be done: tiling a fiberglass shower pan with marble. My buddy in the home remodeling business showed me his recent work, took him 8-9 hours to finish tiling this shower pan. He laid some mortar on the shower pan and then cut all the tile from 12x12 pieces...no wonder it took him so long - explained to me that the grout line is 3/8 for so there is less chance to slip.
I always thought that because a fiberglass pan is flexible so it could not be tiled...interesting. I am not a fan of fiberglass pans and I completely forgot to upgrade this item, but I guess I could live with it. My parents were against having a fiberglass tub so we upgraded it early on - creaks and flexes, plus the cast-iron upgrade is easier to get in and out of, which is useful for when my parents visit.
Dirty Ice

My Japan correspondent showed me these dirty looking rock ice cubes things. I have no idea what the details are - maybe they are some kind of mineral? Drop it into your drink and pretend you didn't just pick some rocks off the beach and put them in glass.
Countertop Brick Oven

I've been on this appliance research binge ever since I bought the fridge and washer/dryer. I was looking into toaster ovens and found this Cuisinart brick toaster oven. Real bricks inside! It also looks nice too, so I wouldn't mind leaving it out on the counter. I grew up making pizza toast in our toaster oven, so some kind of mini toaster oven will be a must have for me. Man's best friend - along with a George Foreman grill that is.
O snap...the website never mentions if this thing can toast bread, guess this thing would be overkill.
Groove Therapy

Groove Therapy is a podcast show that started in March 2002. Yes, BEFORE podcasting was big. Back then I think these mixes were just called that: downloadable mixes. There's no talking, no commercials, just pure unadulterated mixes of hip-hop, funk, soul, world music, and beats and breaks. All mixed and presented by DJ Frenzie of Australia. I listen these mixes whenever I don't feel like booting up Rhapsody.
There is an incredible amount of content here - whenever I hear a song I like in the mix I can find the artist using the provided track listing.

Mousse T vs The Dandy Warhols
Hear this great mash up on Sirius Boombox. Like I said before, it's rare for me to like a mash up. I felt these two songs fit very well together.
