First purchases
Ok I don’t know if I will even have any money left to do any decorating. This blog should just be renamed “wishful thinking” because I’ll be living on ramen and sitting on milk crates. Sears had a special going this weekend – 10% off 2 or more appliances plus free delivery & installation. I bit the bullet and decided to buy now since I won’t have to pay for 12 months anyway – *reminder to self* pay off appliances by April 1st 2008 or face interest back penalties.

The fridge – Jenn-Air French Door Bottom Freezer Cabinet Depth Stainless Steel
When my parents remodeled their home a couple years ago they chose this fridge. Then when my brother bought his house he followed suit. Now I have too. My brother and I opted for the thicker manly-man handles though. I like french door fridges for practicality reasons: I spend more time in the cooler, more space for wider foods, takes less floor space when opening, and can also open only one part of the fridge. What doesn’t make sense to me is why cabinet depth refrigerators cost more than the standard ones…we’re paying more for less space!
The washer & dryer – Kenmore HE2 front loading in Graphite
I didn’t bother doing much research on these units but I figure they should last at least 6-7 years (which is my current minimum of living in the home). Getting back $100 from the water company for choosing a HE machine is nice.
