This Midwest couple blew a nice chunk of change on distributed speakers hidden throughout their home. 49 in-wall speakers throughout their 7500sq ft house – inside and out. Personally I love the look of floor standing speakers. They could be like an art sculpture in itself. (B&W XT series pictured to the right) 
I’ll probably spring for a Sonos wireless music system attached to a couple sets of bookshelf speakers throughout the house. Easy, low cost way of distributing music in different rooms. More pictures and details here
