Mexico in May

Main events in May were: moving into our new house and going to Guadalajara with Sang Mi and my dad to visit family. My brother and his wife work for the US Consulate there. Early in May we were busy packing and prepping to move. We used frogbox, friends, and a U-haul to move in the middle of the month. Never again will we move ourselves. We concluded that it's worth the money to pay for good movers. At the very least we'll do frogbox+movers next time. Once we moved in, we did not have much time to get settled until we had to leave for Mexico.

Guadalajara was a nice break and easy vacation- spent our time there mostly eating at restaurants with family, watching movies, and visiting different neighborhoods.

Lucha Libre show was hilariously entertaining; midgets, characters, strippers, fat wrestlers and a rowdy crowd

From early June till now has been just spent unpacking and settling in, getting items fixed/repaired around the house, and hosting Guru and Kimmy for a weekend.

What happened in April

Laziness and busyness led to no blog entries in April. Most of my computer time was spent on Redfin. The biggest news of April is that Sang Mi and I bought a house together. It's always been our plan to move closer to Seattle and we finally did it. On April 9th we found our new house on Redfin, and the following day we put in an offer after seeing it in person. After a stressful scramble to get lending and inspections lined up quickly we finally will close on the 10th of May.

Main features I liked:

  • Location - in between both junctions in WS and both our workplaces; nice neighborhood with very little crime
  • Deck - two spacious patios, enough room for a table and hot tub as well
  • View - nice view of the Cascades and Harbor Island
  • Privacy - house is set back from street, front and rear surrounded by shrubs
  • Updated interior - move in ready and decently updated

Surprised me to learn that the house was built in 1926. The previous owners have taken care of the house and it shows. We close on the 10th.

Other happenings in April:

  • Went to Sounders game - fun atmosphere, I would sit farther away to see more of the field next time

  • Went to Ryan Leslie concert - an OK show, he's talented but should stick to R&B
  • Went disc golfing with Cesar for the first time. Fun despite the water hazards

  • Disc golf in a nutshell

  • Eating more cheat meals lately - I hit my goal weight and I'm working out again - just started a few crossfit classes and I want to puke each time
  • May is going to a busy month with us moving into the new house and also traveling to visit Kam and his family in Guadalajara.

Allen's birthday - last year at his birthday party is where SM and I started talking

    Paying the toll

3 months into 2013 and my weight is under control with the keto diet. Now I'm starting to pay attention to the inflammation factor of foods and working on increasing omega-3 and lowering omega-6 intake. Chia seed isn't the superfood I once it was because of the lack of EPA/DHA, but I'll keep eating them; per my doc's recommendation I am supplementing with Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 3 capsules (that's the best brand she said).

Starting to get back into strength training- installed a pull up bar by the bathroom and now I 'pay the toll' every time I use the bathroom. My plan is to do 3 each time in the month of March, then 4 in April, 5 in May, etc.
